Good evening all. Anyone have any experience with breaking a lease due to a job offer from DoDEA? I am currently in this predicament and am unsure of what I need to do. I know that there are provisions for that for people who are actually active duty, but are there any such provisions for civilian workers. What would be the best angle to approach this? Any suggestions/insight is greatly appreciated.

infiniti4 Thank you all for your responses! Your answers have been super helpful. At least now I have an idea of what I want to do. Kinda stressful, but this too shall pass. Just a little overwhelmed at the moment.

kgteach Hi infinit! I got moved into a new apartment September 2016 and got an offer from DDESS in October 2017. I spoke to the land lord and told her that I needed to break my lease because of a government job offer. I forfeited my security deposit and had to pay 1 month's rent. Just be honest with your landlord. Everything worked out great! Don't worry.
