Stupid site won't let me respond to a thread below.... But I would look into taking those elementary methods courses ASAP. Look for online self-paced courses that you can finish quickly. PDI courses probably has some and you have the option of getting college credit. Another might be LaVerne University. I've already received 13 referral lists in Japan for K-6 Elementary (not sped) positions, and 1 in Bahrain. COuld be a good year for Gen Ed hiring. I bet you could take a few by this summer.

Icanread I have only received one referral for FLES (no job offer). I am certified to teach gen ed elementary, but I haven't received any referrals for general elementary. I'm hoping there are still lots of open positions out there that I might get referrals/interviews for.

Icanread I wish I knew what was causing me to not get referrals. My certs are FLES, reading specialist ES/MS, and gen ed grades 1-8. I'm looking into taking ECE courses, ESL courses, and 1 more math course (to be a math specialist) to increase my chances of a job.

angel Thank you teach. Do you know if the classes have to have method in the name? For example "Teaching Methods: Elementary Science."

haha Course title to be totally safe but obviously prominent in the course description will generally work too.
