I received an email saying I was on a referral list for a high school media specialist position in Japan. The email came on Friday 3/31. I looked up the school because I had no clue where Perry HS was, and I did not list Japan as one of my locations on my application. The school is on Spring Break this week. I never thought I would consider living in Japan but the more I think about it I get more excited about the prospect. Do you think that it is a bad sign that I haven't received an interview email yet or do you think that the school being on Spring Break this week may have something to do with the delay? Just curious...this is the first time I have listed worldwide on my application usually I just try for stateside.
haha It may or may not be a bad sign that you haven't been contacted to interview. Schools are out and many principals take time off as well during this time (although some principals are in fact conducting interviews during the break).

librarylady Thanks for the reply! I thought about sending the principal an email but have seen mixed responses on whether or not that is a good idea.

haha I've had mixed opinions myself on the subject but have come to the conclusion that getting hired is a long shot so anything you can do to improve your odds is probably worth doing. I think cold calling/emailing principals is probably a waste of time but it also probably won't hurt your chances significantly.

Scholar Perhaps an email with your resume attached? I know they get a printed report of your application but a resume could help you highlight extracurricular activities and other experiences not asked about.
