How much time is it between when they pack your stuff, until you get your HHG overseas? I guess I'm trying to downsize my wardrobe (since its much hotter in Virginia than England) and figure out what to bring. I don't mind re-wearing clothes for a few months, but I'm going to be living in 95-100 degree weather for a week or so after parkout, moving to 70ish degree weather in mid August, and then I imagine it gets cold in September.... So I feel like my carry on bags will need to include 3 seasons worth of stuff! Isn't there an "express shipmen" of up to 900 pounds that arrives sooner?

SpedTeacher74 You can ship earlier if they have packing dates available that early. The longer you can live without your stuff on this end...the sooner you get it on that end...generally.

SpedTeacher74 The typical time frame to ship is 21-45 days out, but we scheduled our stuff 30-60 days out if we could...(the last time we moved was in 2007..so things might well have changed since then.)

Redclover711 Wow! I had no idea that they come pack your things. What if you live in an isolated village on an island in Southeast Alaska where they have to fly or take the ferry in? Do they have limits for where they go to pack your things and/or cost involved in doing so? Just curious as our scenario is different than many.

Euxpat No limits that I've ever heard of.

Redclover711 I just asked someone and it looks like they do come to our location as the U.S. forestry department on the island also packs out their civilian employees for moves.
