I received my tentive offer a little over two weeks ago. I assume from other post I should be receiving a firm offer soon (or told No). I was just wondering if anyone knows of a situation where someone had the firm offer and a few months later had it pulled?

I ask because my current school district just asked us to sign a new contract by next week and we have until June 5th to cancel( new policy). After that, there would be a fine and we would not be able to re-apply to the district for two years (yikes!)

Anyway, my background check should be OK accept for my credit. It's taken a hit to about a 650 score due to a charge off from a joint account I thought was closed. Check my credit last week and found it.

Any insight- Thanks
SandArt Make sure to dispute the charge. A sibling of mine had the same issue with a soon to be ex spouse not making payments. He was giving his wife $ to pay bills after their separation, and she didn't pay them. He was able to dispute some. Not sure how.

Jim I did dispute the item on my credit but even if I were to pay it off tomorrow, I doubt it would show-up or improve my credit score before DODEA checks it.

happyteacher I really don't think its a huge issue. I think they are more interested in tax liens and major major debt, not that you have a few late payments or have a balance on your credit card.

haha Tough to say as a firm offer is a new process for DoDEA. In the recent past you got your tentative offer, went through the process and then got your orders, with no other indication that everything was a go.

That being said, very few (I have never heard of any, personally or even 2nd/3rd hand, although I am sure it has happened) people get...See More
