Angel, I do have elementary method courses which I took with both my bachelor's and master's. Not sure which classes specifically qualified me for compensatory math. I am not secondary. Angel, I speak from limited experience with secondary teachers. From what they have told me is they did not learn a lot of inquiry-based and how to teach conceptually. SandArt, I am certified mainly in secondary, I had a TON of methods lessons in my undergraduate and graduate program, so it may depend on where the teacher earned their degree(s). Also depends on if the teacher was in public school and what is offered for teacher training. I had a lot of good workshops and training there as well.

That's great, Supernova. Like I wrote, I know my perspective is limited only to the secondary teachers I have worked with in my district.
We have excellent trainings in our districts for all, so even if you had a subpar teacher program, you can still learn. I have learned so much from our professional development.
