Teaching Jobs on Teachers.Net

I'm a public school teacher headed to Yokosuka, Japan with my husband and am trying to get a job at one of the DoDea schools on base. My application online says that I'm qualified but is that all I need? I can't seem to find any info on vacancies...how does this process typically work? Please tell me everything you think this newbie needs to know!

SandArt You will get a referral (an e-mail saying you're on a list) for different schools. You may then get called for an interview. SpedTeacher74 I know when I subbed for DoDEA, a lot of local hires started as subs or para's. You may have to go that route until something comes available.

haha If your husband has orders then you should make sure to change your target location to Yokosuka ASAP (if you haven't already). You would then be a local hire with family preference and your name would appear on any list the principal's pull for open positions matching your qualifications.

Happy Teacher When you get to Japan, apply for a sub job via USAjobs immediately.

Make sure your EAS app is up to date and shows you as being a local hire candidate when you get there.

HelpOthers Teacher vacancies are usually not announced anywhere other than through e-mail to people in the local DoDEA e-mail list. If you are "qualified" in EAS, make sure all the boxes have green check marks, your application is final and everything says, "2017-2018" school-year.
