Your date of appointment should be the first day you report to work.

Agreed that appointment date would generally be your actual start date although on many forms your start date is the date you arrive at your new posting, not necessarily the first day of work (not sure which applies here).

My question though is do you get insurance as soon as you get there? How are we supposed to deal with regular prescriptions?
