I've had more success getting referred for ISS positions than teaching ones. Excited, but unsure.

It is two different processes. I interviewed for an ISS position in Japan and the point of contact is HR in DoDEA Pacific East, not Headquarters. On the other hand, I just made a referral list for the same position in Brussels and the point of contact appears to be Headquarters in Alexandria, VA.

ISS positions are very mysterious creatures. No one knows what most of them are supposed to actually be doing, there are a lot of referrals and interviews but actual hirings are few and far between.

The ISS positions are being filled through USA Jobs rather than the EAS. Sometimes other positions like school nurse, school counselor, etc. are also posted on USA Jobs and any teaching position they are unable to fill or find enough applicants are posted in USA Jobs.
