Just saw positions posted for internal applicants on offical email:

School Psychologist: Okinawa

Counselor: Daegu

Although they are only open to current DoDEA teachers working in the complex, if they are not filled they would then likely have to go stateside (if they don't open it up to DoDEA worldwide).

haha In my experience most counselors and psychologists are hired from outside of DoDEA since not many teachers have/go back to obtain those credentials sitting in their back pocket while they are a subject teacher.

HelpOthers Psych is correct. Because of an agreement with the union, positions are first available to people in the commuting area, then the district, then area, etc. The school counselor and school psychologist positions are paid more than teacher positions (different pay scales). haha I don't disagree with any of that. Although, there were a fair number of counselor positions in the transfer round last year (like maybe close to 10). They were all combined with a teaching position though so that probably makes a difference.
