Hi all. Everything else being equal (state-certified, adequate degrees, etc) If a DODEA candidate has significant experience teaching at university level, but no K12 experience, is that a deal-killer? I'm in the process of applying, and trying to gauge my chances, with the understanding that they're low in the first place? :)

I had already figured that y changes were low, but getting at the spot in the application where I have to submit my current and previous supervisors references, and looking a the list of allowable persons that meet the definition of "supervisor".

My specialties are ESL and French.

haha It does put you at a disadvantage when you are being compared with candidates who have more relevant experience. It might also depend a bit on your subject area.

But, you never know when University experience might impress a principal who would feel that they are bringing rigor/higher level education to their team.
