Have you submitted your EQIP yet? That's when the main part of the background check actually seems to start.

Yes. I actually submitted the E-QIP a week before that. How long should it take? It's for a stateside position, but I am not sure if that matters.

It varies wildly. I have heard times of anywhere from 4 to 8 weeks. Longer or shorter is also possible. I haven't heard of a pattern of stateside being any better or worse but that doesn't mean there isn't one.
