I started on a Wednesday. My payroll person was on top of it and I got a partial paycheck direct deposited for my first three days the following Friday.

That is a HUGE relief to hear!! Who does that depend on? Is it HR or the principal's secretary?

Mine was our school payroll person so it was all in-house. We got paid on Friday the 15th and we get paid every other Friday. Not sure if it is the same in stateside schools.

But be prepared. When I first started with DoDDS in Japan I arrived early August, started teaching mid/late August, but did not get my first paycheck until early October.

The 8th is the start of a pay period so if everything goes smoothly your first pay will be the 26th. A lot depends on HR and your school secretary. If you receive post allowance, etc. you will have to take care of that yourself after you get your CAC card. Good luck. Hopefully you have a good sponsor to help you!
