Question:

Currently I live in the EU for work but am moving back in a few months to my permanent address in the US.

In the application, if I list my Europe address as my "current address" and my US address as my "permanent address", will I be denied LQA if I get a DODEA job in the EU?

I'm not sure if they care about both or just the permanent address.

haha They do care about both to some extent. In theory, where you are when you are hired is used to determine your eligibility for benefits. This also does come down to the individual interpretation of whoever is working on your file in many cases.

fmp3 Thank you, it sounds like you and I are in the same boat. We do have a contract with our intl school that including recruitment from the states and paid relocation and an initial housing stipend (although no continual paid housing...)

haha If you are going to be overseas until June, you might potentially have an issue if you were offered a position before you relocate back to the states. If you are claiming your current int'l school for years of experience/reference etc., I don't think there really is much you can do about it.

fmp3 OK thanks. Just one more question if you have a moment... Our biggest concern is in the LQA Questionaire where it says: did you apply/receive/accept this position while physically residing in the US... what would you do there?

haha That is a tough call. If you put no, then you are locked into hoping they accept your explanation/rationale for how you were recruited and what benefits you currently receiving from your foreign employer.

If you put yes, then you are technically lying on your application which could end up disqualifying your application when someone figure...See More
