My quals have been pending for over 4 weeks now. I have called and of course get the same answer " Its a long process" My question is how often do people get hired if it is their first time applying? I have read that some people wait years before they hear anything and that some people never get called.

One last question. I am certified in my state of Texas to teach EC-6 and EC-12 Sp.ED. I am currently a Sp. ED teacher, so I was curious how desirable those two certifications are?

Thank you all for the wonderful chat board , it is very informative.

haha If you have an ED (if ED stands for Emotional Dist.) state certification then that would mean you would only need 6 credit hours in ED related classes to be considered ED certified by DoDEA (it generally takes 12 credit hours). EC-6 sounds like a general SPED certification which should give you at least Mild to Moderate with DoDEA (presuming you ha...See More

HelpOthers Does the EC-6 mean early childhood-6th grade (general ed) and then EC-12 mean early childhood-12th grade special education?

As for the pending for 4 weeks, they may stay pending until someone starts looking for a position you have said you are qualified for. Then, they may review your qualifications to decide if they can include you in th...See More
