Hello! I applied for an open position with the DoDEA to teach grades 1,2, or 3 overseas and my application status is saying that I am unqualified because I don't have specific classes in teaching methods for reading, lang. arts, science, and math. My undergrad degree is in PolySci, but I have a professional CO teaching certificate and I have taught 1st and 2nd grade for 5 years. I uploaded my PRAXIS scores as re-evaluation documents. Does anyone have any other advice? Do you know if PD through my school would count? Thanks!
SpedTeacher74 PD will not count. You will have to earn the additional credits for DoDEA. They require more than most states for certification. So even if you are certified in your state, you likely are not qualified for DoDEA.

haha Unfortunately, I agree that PD does not count, only university credits in the required/named classes are accepted by DoDEA. State certification also does not count (which makes some sense since states often have vary different requirements for the same certification, allow you add certs through testing alone, etc.). IsItFriday? You need to take the required classes if you wish to continue pursuing the application process. You will not be hired unless qualififed.
