I am in early stages of planning, likely applying for the 19-20 school year (since I have already signed the 18-19 contract for my present district).

Currently, I am an SLP in Alaska, where contracts are sent out in Feb., with 30 days to sign and return. Given this time frame, it seems that I may have to give up my contract with the district I am currently servicing in hopes of being considered by DoDEA. This is a large gamble considering I am a home owner. Have any of you dealt with similar situations? If so, any thoughts and suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Frank A $500 fine. And they can revoke the state teaching certificate.

Buzz Yikes. I have never heard of a monetary fine. ---Your honesty and straight forward approach is admirable.

Bike Grrrl SLPAK, maybe you can apply for a leave of absence from your current district and try to make ends meet while you wait to see if you get a DODEA job. If you get the DODEA job, then you just never go back to your old district. HelpOthers I agree with Haha and AZPsych. I waited for a position for YEARS. I did speak my principals to let them know of my desire to work for DoDEA, to serve military children, etc. I ended up accepting a stateside position shortly before school started.
