Scholar or Haha, do you have to use the books? I haven't used one since maybe my second year teaching. My students usually ask me a couple of months in why we don't use the books if I have them. I usually call them shelf decorations :) They are actually kinda pretty sitting their brand new.

Scholar Not required for sciences. For math is a different story as we have eureka math.

haha Yes, math has been a bit of a mess in secondary this year. Textbooks not allowed to be used after being replaced by death by packet (at least in the schools I am personally familiar with). Teachers seem to be adjusting and figuring out where they can/need to skip/supplement.

someday Ok it sounds like and even sounded like (in my interview) there is a lot of autonomy. I like some structure but pretty much do my own thing. Haha, I have seen packet to death. I would say I used to do it in Chemistry my first couple years teaching. The poor kids! If I could go back. Scholar, what order do you teach biology. The principal said there...See More

Scholar I personally don't teach bio but our biology classes are in genetics right now with ecology coming around the bend. I haven't looked into the standards, scope and sequence to know if it's in draft even but heard we are updating textbooks within the next two years so maybe it will come with that.

someday Thanks for the info so it looks like the same order as the standards are listed in and the same as I do now. So that should be an easy transition.
