I just received an email offering an interview for a position in South Korea. (The email didn't specify which base, but the ISS person who sent the email had Camp Humphreys in her contact info) It wasn't on my list, but I'd take a job anywhere, so I want to take the interview. We are pretty adventurous, but my wife is a skeptical (although open minded) about South Korea. Most of what we know/hear about Korea comes from the news. We just started looking up better information this morning, but perhaps someone who works there could give me some opinions/information on their experience there.

Does anyone know: Do teachers typically live on base or off base? Do you feel safe/ or is everyone pretty worried about a war? In general do you like it?

We have school age children- Do kids seem to like living on base? What questions should I have asked before making this decision? Or what else would you share with someone in my position? Thanks!

Frank I interviewed for both positions last night, 1 hour apart from each other. I'd prefer Japan, but I'd be happy with any position. H Wow! Back to back interviews. Were they both for Psych jobs? Good for you. I'm also surprised on the size of the back log. And 4-5 months seems like quite a long time. Oh well, I guess you just go with the flow. Seoul and Yokosuka both sound great, so hopefully you'll get one of them :)

Teacher dad Hi, When did you apply?

Frank Yep, they were both for psych jobs. I applied in January 2017, and updated my application in January 2018.

HelpOthers AZPsych. You actually won't have an option. If they both want you, it will depend which one HR sees first and offers you. If you turn down an offer, you won't be given another offer the rest of the year, so take the one you get. :) Hopefully the one you want works faster than the other, but they are both great places to live and work.
