Im in the process of completing the travel order packet (I wasn't expecting another packet after completing the in-processing packet)! I'm currently not living in the same state as my physician, and I have a been having a hard time getting the entire medical examination form filled out. I've been to several urgent care centers, and they all say that they cannot complete the vision test for me. Anyone else having or have had this issue?

HelpOthers If anyone else gets an offer, you can have the physical completed at one of the military facilities with your offer letter and the medical form for them to complete. They were able to do my entire physical, all aspects of it, for free. They also gave me the Japanese encephalitis, etc, that my family member had difficulty getting.

HelpOthers You call and ask for a DoD civilian employment physical. You will need to have access to the facility though and some are harder to get into than others- requiring sponsor.

CoPurry Mary; how do you get access to the base? Do you just go to the gate with your offer letter and an ID, or do you need a friend who has military access and can get you on base? Do you need to make an appointment in advance and can the medical center arrange a pass to get you on the base?

CoPurry Is it possible to get the DOD ID card in the States or do you have to wait until you report?

haha It seems to vary by base. When in doubt. call your nearest base and find out what they require (and if that doesn't seem feasible call other bases near you and see if they are easier to gain access to).

You generally cannot get your ID card (CAC) until you officially report to your new location.
