The person processing my application told me that my background check was initiated last Thursday (May 24) and that if anything was needed from me during this step, I will be contacted by Personnel Security Specialists. When should I expect fingerprint cards from them? Will I even need to do fingerprints since I have fingerprints on file with the federal government after having been employed by the U.S. Postal Service 18 years ago (I assume they're still on file)? How long should I expect this background check to take? From the HR email, it appears that nothing else will be done with my application until the background check is finished. This is for a stateside assignment, by the way.
BubbleHead Look a few post down. Someday posted her complete timeline.

Gina I saw her post but I was wondering if fingerprints are necessary for me since I worked for the post office(?)

haha Fingerprints are usually requited for everyone, regardless. Even if someone is a current substitute for DoDEA and gets hired for a full time position, then a full background check is STILL generally required. So, while anything is possible with the government, it would be quite surprising if they did not want fingerprints, etc. from you.
