Hi there! My application was determined as "qualified" for mild/mod for Elementary. However I haven't been contacted for an interview :( While I wait I'd like to work on other qualifications. I'd like to become an assessor. Anyone have suggestions as to how to become a sped assessor? I currently do all of the assessing as the resource teacher in LAUSD but I'm guessing dodea requires me to get an additional special certification. Where and how should I get this??? Also, any other cert you strongly suggest? Thank you for any info!!

HelpOthers I have to admit that I am happy the practicum is now required. You may be able to add it without too much difficulty.

Suzla @Leo Not sure if you'll see this message/question: You mentioned you only had to take 1 course to qualify for EI, PSCD? Which course and from where????

Leo Suzla, I took Educational Procedures for the Mentally Handicapped online at the University of LaVerne. I needed 2 additional units in a couple areas and this class did it.

Suzla @Leo, thank you so much for getting back to me!!!! I'll look into that. Did you call DODEA to get help in figuring out which course to take? If you did, is there someone you suggest I reach out to for more information about additional courses?

Leo Suzla, you're most welcome. I believe I found that class because of this chatboard myself! Since it was just the one class, and since others had success submitting it before me, I did not talk to DoDEA prior to taking it.
