I would think slow, but not stop completely

I believe it varies. Principals get a certain amount of time off and have some flexibility about how/when they take it. Hiring will go on regardless, if there are positions to be filled.

I think most take the month of July off when they can. I believe they work 222 days, so it depends how many non-student days they worked through (spring break, etc.) the year as to how many days they have available to take off during the summer.
