I currently work for DODEA and just completed all my background stuff less than a year ago. If I accept a position overseas, will I have to do it all over again or will they make an exception?
IsItFriday? You won't have to redo it for the new position.

They may ask you to update your background stuff when it hits the five year mark. But updating is much easier than doing all the original paperwork.

HelpOthers It seems to depend. If there is documentation of your background check in your personnel file, you may not need it again. However, for some reason, this seems to be less common than you might expect and most people are having to go through it again.

Happy Teacher What about previous employees, returning after LWOP but within two or three years? Do you think there's a "fast track" for background checks in that case?

haha It's always difficult to predict. If you are teaching with DoDEA Americas you SHOULD be fine. If it's a different position (substitute to teacher, etc.) I know people who have had to go through the whole thing again. I had to redo mine while a current DoDEA overseas teacher even though it had been less than two years since I was hired.
