He isnt SOFA sponsored..(not really sure what that is..) so new to this system .. I know it isn't DODEA but have you thought about other teaching jobs in Korea. You could probably get something (it obviously wont pay as much) and then reapply as a local hire for next school year. I would also talk to HR and see if they can let you remain hirable with an open application for this school year because of the situation. Maybe someth...See More

That does sound like an unfortunate turn of events. You should try and get some clarification from HR (and from your fiancee about his status, benefits, etc.). Going in with the idea that you are likely going to leave after a year is not a great situation for you or anyone else involved.
