I've had my same cell phone number for close to 20 years, and am wondering what those of you already overseas have done with your US cell phones. Did you cancel your service completely, or is there a way to suspend service so that you can use it when you go back to visit in the US?

WA_Counselor @Icanread, thanks for your help! It's interesting what I'm finding I'm attached to now that moving overseas is closer to a reality. I really don't want to give up that phone number.

slpgeek I've heard that if you are with att you can suspend your account for $0.01 per month if you are going overseas with the military. Don't know if this is true though so maybe someone can chime in. That way you keep your number and just get a new SIM card at your new location (assuming your phone is unlocked).

HelpOthers My husband I each have Magic Jack and transferred our home numbers to Magic Jack.

HelpOthers We didn't transfer our numbers until after we were here, because we continued to use our US cell phones at first when we were here, mostly with wifi - messenger, etc.

WA_Counselor I currently have T-Mobile and an iPhone 6S Plus. I had read somewhere that we can't use Magic Jack in S. Korea. @Mary, did you transfer your number to Magic Jack just to have a place to keep it?
