1. He filled out equip and sent it back on 7/5 but we still have not heard anything about fingerprints. They are supposed to be in within 10 days, but we can't find any instructions/forms so we can get this taken care of. Our hr rep also happens to be on vacation all week, and the equip didn't come from an identifiable security rep. Any suggestions?
2. How do we get permission to join the Dodd Facebook page? I tried to join a few days ago, but so far no response.

HR sent me the fingerprint cards and an envelope to mail them back in. That was just a few months ago so I would think it's the same for you. If your HR rep is on vacation, there should be someone (or a supervisor) who is filling in for him/her.

Also, I have 2 or 3 official copies of everyone's birth certificates - just in case! You shouldn't need your tourist passports until you leave the country for travel, as you can't use your official passports for non-duty travel. We had tourist passports before I was offered a job with DoDEA so that wasn't an issue for us.

I would actually order two copies of birth certificates, especially if you apply for blue passports before you leave and you have kids. I am a little paranoid about not having those hand carry items. It is important to have extra copies. What I did was once I had my sponsor I had her set up my box/address on base and ordered my renewal travel passports to that address. They should be waiting for me when I arrive. One reason I did that was because the house was for sale and I didn't have an interim address.
