Upon arriving in Korea, what are some first things to do? (making IDs..housing..cellphone..visit the school first)

Do I pay for the temporary lodging first and get reimbursed later?

How do I know where to go and how to get around on post to make an ID and ration card?

Can I sponsor a non-family member to post?

How do I get my driver's license and vehicle registration in Korea? Can I do everything on base? (any recommendation on auto insurance company?)

GoingToKorea Thank you all for sharing your knowledge and wisdom!! I'm hoping to get my orders soon, so I can book the lodge. Does anyone know how long it takes to get your car shipped over?

someday You don't need orders to book the lodge. I booked a couple weeks after getting temporary offer. I just had to call and adjust the dates once I had my orders and travel plans. The sooner the better they fill up fast.

GoingToKorea Great advice! I just booked it, but the lodge is only available for 5 nights. Thank you! I'll see if I can extend when I get there.

Nana B Shipping your car over - the contractors require that you give them 8 weeks/60 days to ship to your new duty station. A couple I knew last year received their car in 5 weeks. Fingers crossed, you'll have a similar outcome this year. Best of luck making this exciting transition!
