When does the healthcare coverage with dodea start and is there a retroactive to my hire date or retroactive at all? Basically when does it kick in for a new hire?

HelpOthers If there will be an actual gap, you can request continued care from your current insurance company to fill in the gap called COBRA, but you probably won't need this.

Snoochiesboochies I guess my concern was that @isitfriday mentioned that an administrator needs to help a teacher get set up with health coverage so that's what confused me. I've done tons of open enrollments over the years so I understand how to basically enroll. Ida I am relatively confident that the coverage doesn't start on the day you enroll, but on your SCD. So for example, if your start date (SCD) is the 20th, but you don't have access to the system until the 31st, the coverage actually begins on the 20th. I can't say this with 100% but this is how it was explained to us last year.
