Hello, I have posted here before, and I am thankful that this supportive community exists.

Things are finally moving along. I mentioned my situation a few times (I am an Assist Professor working in Japan).

I got my 9-12 social studies teaching license current and re-instated, uploaded all of my information for approval, and am waiting to take the next step.

Although when I uploaded my transcripts, it said "invalid" in brackets next to the title. I followed the directions and uploaded a scanned copy of my official transcripts, but was a bit confused by that. I sent a message to EAS HQ for clarification.

Where do I go from here?

I want to stay in Japan and work on a base, but what is realistically the next step to achieve this goal. I have submitted the 5013 forms for proof of experience,the recommendations have been approved, and the checklist is all green.

SocialStudiesLivinginJapan I was considered qualified by Dodea for middle and high school social studies--so that first part is done. I wouldn't mind being considered a local hire. My address in my profile is listed as Japan (I am not sure if that would put me on the radar as a "local hire").

haha Oh, OK. I thought you had said that you were pending approval on something. If you are open to being a local hire (which is probably your best bet on getting hired in reality) then you should have your application changed to local hire. haha Not sure about online AVID course but search around, it might be possible. Yes, SPED is an excellent cert to have but maybe not so valuable without some type of relevant experience in it.
