Yep! It takes effect at the end of this current school year. I am a FLES teacher and we got official word back in August that the program would be cut. They are working on a plan to place the 50-100 (?) worldwide FLES teachers.

Yep. Basically this. ^. Since they cancelled the transfer program, hopefully we will hear something about their plans to place the excess teachers.

Well, the last I heard (though we have heard all kinds of rumors) is that we will be absorbed by the local districts. But I was the last CONUS hired at my school (and one of the last few in my district) and with possible increasing class sizes (another rumor?) and some other local school moves going on, I don't really know what will happen! Yes, we too have heard rumors about increasing the allowable pupil to teacher ratio but I'm hoping it's just a rumor, or something they want on paper in case it's ever really needed. I'm not sure how even our illustrious leader could justify it with all of the above school level positions they have added (ISS, Center for Education Leadership, etc,)...See More
