So I have been reading the blog, and I see that a lot of teachers are being recessed? What exactly does that mean, where is this happening and why? Additionally, I talked to my HR person, and she had told me that the positions for special education are mainly going to be in Okinawa, etc. My concern with placing this region in my preferred area is that I have read there is a lot of red tape that you have to go through if you have pets and there is a 180 quarantine for animals. I would be scared that this would cause a significant delay for arriving and navigating my spouse and children to the area, as someone would need to stay behind for a while. Additionally, I have looked at some housing options in the area and on the mainland, and it appears they are not set up for families that have dogs.

One last thing. If you go over to Japan and want to transfer out to a different region later on, how difficult is this?

haha Yeah, definitely not a decision made in the best interest of the students, or anyone really (other than making the powers that be look good by cutting costs, at a time when they really did not need to).

IsItFriday? Icanread - being excessed can be good if you think that lottery tickets can be good. Yes, some teachers will get good slots, but most will be disappointed, or just relieved to still have a job.

HelpOthers As for the 180 day quarantine, depending on your location, this can occur on base. You may need to opt for on-base housing so that your dogs can stay with you if there are several months left of the quarantine. Other options are the pet-care center on base if there is space.
