If you're on Facebook, go look up the group "Okinawa Questions" and search for that question. People ask it every single day on there so there is lots of info. I don't have any personal experience with it, but I know it can be done, as there are lots of Americans here who bring their dogs and cats.

One lesson I learned moving to Japan this fall, is that not all airlines will fly your pets to Japan, even if you are a DOD employee. They will for military, but not us.
