the Dodea, do I get offered some sort of retirement contribution? I make $44,000 now and would like a better salary but also want to get retirement funding. I am 49. :)

Yes, DoDEA Americas does not pay for housing. Housing is sometimes available on base in some locations apparently but you would be paying market value. Some locations also apparently limit base privileges unless you live on base.

You "should" still qualify for the masters pay lane (I know teachers who have masters in other fields and qualified for the masters pay lane).

You "should" at least be on the masters pay lane. The actual salary would depend on the years of service they credit you with:
