Hi all! Hubby and I are fairly new to this process, and we are having trouble finding some information regarding stateside benefits. Ultimately, we want to teach overseas (who doesn't?) but we are fine getting our foot in the door through stateside schools. That said, do we receive any compensation besides the actual salary? Ie, housing allowances, moving expenses, etc? We were told by a former DOD teacher that for overseas, moving expenses are covered, travel expenses to get there are covered, temporary housing, and permanent housing is all covered.

Is it the same for stateside? Will we be able to live on base (for free/low cost), or are we required to pay for housing in the states? Are moving expenses reimbursed? Any help in this area is SO appreciated!! Thank you!

HelpOthers afwife, that is so strange. I thought current DoD dependents could attend DoDEA schools if the family lives on the military facility. I know retired and other civilians who happen to live on base do not qualify, not even if employed by NAF.

HelpOthers Here is the link with the regulation. If you are a DoDEA employee living on base with your dependents, they are permitted to enroll in the DoDEA school.
