Icanread Dodea is not without faults. I don't believe there is any perfect school or district. I've worked for 5 or 6 public school districts in the US. dodhopeful Every school district I have been an employee of has had its problems. Some major and some minor. These links aren't what I would consider "hard evidence". I followed them all and didn't find anything that would make me stop considering the DODEA.

haha It's large organization. Some people have very negative experiences. Many people do not. The people who do often feel compelled warn people off of the whole experience/organization. Not terribly unique to DoDEA.

Snow Lane There are negatives, sure. But the positives far outweigh them. Coming from a low paying state, DoDEA pays me a living wage and pays me for my degree, where my state didn't. I worked twice the hours I do now for half the pay. Planning wasn't sacred and we were expected to go to IEP meetings, RTI meetings, etc. during planning. Sure, we had to meet ...See More

teacher42 I'm guessing OP has either been very lucky in the past or has had a very limited range of teaching experiences. DoDEA is the best district I've worked in, and I've been teaching for 30 years. (Just joined DoDEA a couple years ago.)
