I'm currently teaching at a foreign school while preparing my application for dodea. I'm just curious what a regular pay month would look like if hired to teach at a dodea school. What type of deductions and approximately how much would be deducted (i.e. health insurance, pension, income tax, etc)? I know it's a very general question, and please feel free to use hypotheticals. Just wondering about percentages and weighing the financial benefits/drawbacks/similarities/differences compared to my current job. Do benefits accrue significantly with time? I want to try and make the most informed decision. For reference, I'm 45 years old and would be hired as a local hire, so no extras that conus teachers would receive. Thank you.
haha It will vary wildly, obviously. The highest salary step you could enter on would be Step 11 (with 10 years of creditable experience). Your salary lane would depend on your level of education. Look at the salary scale to try and see where you might fall:
