So my spouse is reaching the point where his enlistment will be up and he wants to get out. If we live overseas and I currently work for DoDD in Japan (as a local hire), what are my options to pick up housing? We don't want to move back stateside and I love my job, but I know I will have to move to get rights. Could I also pick up rights through a promotion to an ISS position or an assistant principal in a different district? (I know I wouldn't get rights if I was promoted within my current area). Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

em1427 Thank you so much for your feedback! So my next question would getting an ISS or AP position (to a new district or area) considered management redirected? I am considering applying for DDESS for next school year too, specifically Guam. Thanks again for your insight!

haha I believe so but you should check with HR to confirm and see what other details may or may not affect the outcome.

Keep in mind (which you probably already know) that Guam would not generally provide you with LQA, unless/until you were hired/transferred into a different overseas location.

Islandgirl Guam has an opening for AP listed.

HelpOthers My understanding is that if you apply for a position, it is not considered management directed. However, a promotion might not need to be management directed. Please ask HR to be sure.
