Hi, everyone! I have a question about moving overseas with a child with an IEP. My son is in kindergarten and we are in the middle of the IEP process here in the States. Once we have an IEP in place and we move overseas, does the DoDEA school he'll attend just follow the IEP we take from his current school? Specifically, I'm concerned about speech therapy. If his IEP includes one-on-one sessions, will that be honored by the DoDEA school? I'm wondering how hard I should push for one-on-one sessions now, or if it'll even matter when we go overseas. Thank you!

If so your family will have to go throught the EFMP where DoDEA willl review the IEP and provide a screening report detailing if services are inplace or not at your gaining locale, though I second what haha says. I worked in the EFMP office for several yeas up until October. If you/your sponsor is a DoD Emp...See More

Cmc Sorry I did not mean to post twice. I also need to correct my previous statement. If services are not available and you are a DoD Employee it will not affect your offer of employment. It would affect the travel recommendation if you are miilitary as the chief of medicine would not recommend travel if for some reason DoDEA's screening indicates that...See More
haha True. I was presuming they were not military. Even being military though, something as relatively simple as Speech or even push-in/pullout would not likely be an issue as those services are offered in virtually all DoDEA schools overseas (although there are always potential problems and anytime you have to ask a question, the answer can be no).
