Hello,

I would humbly like to thank all of you who have provided invaluable feedback to those of us who are attempting to enter the DODEA system or in the process of entering the system. I have been eyeing a position with DODEA for the past 2 years and in my first year of applying as a special education teacher this year I was blessed with an offer to teach in Germany! Honestly, the experience and wisdom offered by those of you who take time to offer thoughtful and well-informed information was invaluable! I am so grateful.

Now that I have accepted my position, I am wondering if anyone is aware of what is covered in per diem stateside? How is per diem allocated and what is covered? I have not been able to get a straight answer on this. On my orders it simply gives a flat rate, but it does not break down what is covered or for how much or for how long.

Icanread Haha - Can you share more about the miscellaneous expense? Where do you file that?

haha As I recall (happy to be proven wrong if someone else has the exact info. at their fingertips), they both are meant to offset/reimburse for various move related expenses and do not require receipts. One is meant for new hires (under the FTA previously mentioned I am guessing), one is meant for existing employees. I believe you would go through DAPS...See More

Icanread Hmmm.... I'm wondering if I can submit 2 years late... I hadn't heard of this reimbursement. I'm going to look into it!

Icanread I did some research today. Here's info about the "FOREIGN TRANSFER ALLOWANCE (FTA) - PREDEPARTURE SUBSISTENCE EXPENSES". The link is... https://www.dodea.edu/Offices/HR/employees/allowances/fta.cfm. You wouldn't be able to submit for it until you have access to DAPS - the allowance processing system website.
