I know this has been asked before, I really wish they had a search function on this board. How do the DoDEA steps work? I have 10 years of teaching experience in public schools. I have my Master's +15. Thanks in advance.

Chris Thank you haha. Does local hire vs. worldwide effect the salary overseas?

Soda I'm currently stateside. I'm curious if I were to get a position overseas (my long term goal), would I stay on the step I am here, or get back credit for my prior experience and start on step 10? I have 14 years in public schools, but on step 5 with DODEA Americas.

Icanread I believe you would start at step 10 or 11 (I can't remember which) for your time in public schools... but then you would also get your credit for how many years you have taught stateside for Dodea.

haha That's my understanding as well. You would get 10 years of public school experience, so Step 11, and then added credit for your DoDEA Americas experience (keeping in mind that we have "longevity steps" starting at Step 14, meaning that you stay on that Step for 4 years before moving up).
