How does HR determine your steps? Are steps equivalent to the amount of years you've taught. I'm currently in my 6th year of teaching, so IF I were hired next school year, would that put me at step 5/6? Would I be at step 1 since I have no prior experience with DODEA? Thanks in advance. Oh also, I'm hoping to find a position in Japan/Korea if that makes a difference with the pay scale.
haha Overseas DoDEA would likely give you 6 years credit and everyone starts at Step 1, so you would likely start at Step 7, under whatever pay lane corresponds to your education level (BA, BA 15, Masters, etc.).

So without the DoDEA years, step 5 USA and step 11 Foreign country would be the limit. Then, above your non-DoDEA experience, they add DoDEA experience without limit. So, if you worked 6 years non-DoDEA and 1 y...See More
