I'm hoping to connect with any new hires who are in a holding pattern because of the travel bans to Level 3 countries. I received my PCS orders to Germany earlier this month, quit my job, and gave notice to the owners of the home I'm renting. My HHG are scheduled to be picked up Wednesday, at which time my family & I will be homeless, in addition to me being jobless. (Staying on at my previous job was not an option; I asked. And, the homeowners already rented out the home we are vacating). I'm the sole bread earner for our family so as you can imagine, we are in quite a pickle. I received a call from CHRA Friday morning gathering information on my job and housing situation. It sounds like they are trying to figure out how they will be able to support us during this travel ban. Are there any other new hires in a similar position?

haha Wow. Yes, the timing is less than ideal. Hopefully they will find a way to support you and your family and/or the powers that be will realize that there need to be exceptions made to these big, sweeping proclamations. Hang in there. I 2nd posting on FB and staying in touch with your principal/secretary.

Icanread Yes, definitely reach out to your principal. Maybe they can discuss it with the superintendent and get a waiver to get you there.

bem Thank you for your feedback! I know my principal is already looking for options on how to help. It's the weekend so I'm sure there hasn't been much movement but hopefully I'll hear something early this week.

RJ Stars and Stripes just reported that some exceptions were granted to and from S Korea. I would imagine Europe is next.
