Yes, that's so unfortunate. Well, at this point I'm just excited to have some type of action with my application to even worry about any of that right now. I know a referral doesn't promise anything, so I am not going to get my hopes up.

I am hoping to land in Germany, but I think millions have the same hope. haha

Just remember that if you turn down an offer, your application will be frozen and unavailable for the remainder of that school-year. If you know you don't want a location, it is better to turn down the interview than to turn down the offer.
