Hi, everyone. I worked with DoDDS a few years ago but resigned when my wife got an international teaching job at an elite school in Asia. Since I resigned, we have taught at international schools for the past three years. I know there are rules regarding residency and such to be a CONUS hire. We are currently in the U.S. as we evacuated the country where we were working. Does anyone know the rule of how rehiring works? I read that I need to be in the U.S. and out of service for at least a year. Does that mean one year physically in the U.S. or would international schools work?

Cordelia I agree with your interpretation Teach8311. The sentence's key word is "and." The "and have a break..." part is all one phrase. The "reside in the US" is a separate phrase. It doesn't indicate how long you must reside in the US.

Teach8311 Hi, everyone! Thanks for all of the advice. I am happy to report that after a stressful week of waiting, I did receive LQA and am waiting for the background to clear to receive the Official Offer. I received LQA based on being in the U.S. for the entire recruitment process, so it seems that is the new rule. I will add that the experience has been m...See More
