Hi Everyone! I just received my first interview request for Sollars Elementary in Misawa, Japan. @haha you're in Japan, right? Do you know any teachers or military personal there? I love Japan, but have reservations because of how far North it is. I would love everyone's input.

ecd5 RAT is return air travel. In remote locations you and your dependents are eligible to fly back to your home of residence yearly when you renew your contract for an additional year. In other locations it's every 2 years.

Snow Lane I know people in Misawa and from what I've heard the culture of the school is pretty positive, which makes a big difference, especially if you might not be able to transfer for a few years. I do think the one year RAT is a major plus. As for weather, it is cold and snowy. One of my friends told me it was 44 degrees yesterday.

LolaTeach There has never been a 'transfer' to the US. You can apply just like everyone else and hope to get picked for an interview. The good news is that from Misawa, you can apply Stateside every single year since it's a one year RAT location.

Ida RAT is Renewal Agreement Transportation. If you sign on for another year you get the free flights home.
