Does anyone know how current DoDEA teachers can transfer? Seems like there's a lot of jobs available but we can't apply for any of them?

haha You can't get into Cuba from overseas. unless one of those rare internal vacancies was advertised. You could potentially get into Guam or Puerto Rico from overseas since they are not foreign countries, but, there is no mechanism to get out, other than making yourself available for other "Americas" positions, I suppose.

Aren't you in the union? You should consider joining. All of the info about transfers, plus more, is shared frequently by the union in very informative newsletters, which are emailed to union members.

The union is advocating strongly for a transfer round that will deal treat teachers fairly.

poke dreams I am in the union but I am hearing of people getting transfers to DDESS schools, yes I know that's possible through EAS, but I've also heard of management directed transfers and also heard of people getting offers, so I was just wondering if there was something I missed.

RJ If they are going from OCONUS to DDESS, that is not a transfer. They are joining the pool with everyone else and are lucky enough to get picked up. I can't speak for the management directed moves, that's highly unusual.

Icanread Teachers could have gotten "transfers"(management directed move) to stateside schools if their positions were excessed and there were no overseas positions available for them. Many are considering going stateside then reapplying for only locations they want to go to. I've even considered it!
