Somewhere I saw that people talk about working as education aid is better than subbing? In order to get into the door, which one is a more logical path? When with schools are closed, subs don't have any job, but educational aids are still paid. Should the GS vs non-GS nature of those 2 positions be put into account when one's goal is to be hired as a DoDEA teacher? What's your input? Thanks!

lalaland I am concerned which position gives me more opportunities to work/ interact with others. Some subs shared with me that they didn't have to work with anyone - they just go to the classroom, talk about the lesson plans, stay in the classroom all day, and don't really have time to mingle with any admin because everyone is busy in the office. haha Well, neither position lends itself to hobnobbing with admin. It's true that substitutes are generally in the classroom, you know, substituting for the teacher. It's also true that most DoDEA paras work in the SPED dept. and they spend most of the day working with students in the resource room or pushing into classes to support students (as would P...See More
