I'm new to this whole process, but it seems like referrals are very random. Like, three people could have similar certs/ratings, but only 2 of the 3 get a referral....Just my observation

ecd5 I actually meant that I have participated in interviewing others for DoDEA. And you're right HR can be hit or miss, but there is actually a list that is generated with candidates ranked. I've seen one and I've spoken to HR.

Shawna11 I don't question the ranking of referral lists. I think veteran's preference is very real, as is spouse's preference.

haha I've also sat in on interviews and participated in the hiring process. I just don't feel that it gave me any special insights or knowledge into the overall above school level process.

ecd5 There are other factors to consider such as how references rate a candidate, years experience, previous DoDEA experience, etc. I'm still not convinced it's random because how would you ever know if you were on one list or another? ecd5 @haha did you see the list? I did and they were ranked by veteran, military preference, civilian Gov employees, prev DoDEA experience, and everyone else. Not exactly sure how applicants are rated within each category but I assume what I mentioned above plays in.
