I can't seem to find the tax rate for federal employees in PR, but I have heard it's very high. I have a friend from PR who teaches for Dodea in Japan, and she would love to go back to PR but as a federal employee, she has said that the taxes are crazy high and she makes more money living overseas with LQA.

On base housing isn't an option, but there are good urbanizations/neighborhoods that are great options for families. The tax rate is higher. We pay PR tax and federal.
